The Room: Part 2
Discovery 1: I think I might have a sinus infection. Discovery 2: learning lines with a potential sinus infection is not fun. Between sleeping and feeling like my face is going to melt off whenever I sit up, trying to commit these lines to memory has been a struggle. In my last journal entry I talked about how the show’s dialogue is naturalistic and I’ve been realizing that, for me, trying to learn lines that are written how a “normal” person would talk them is harder than doing a more stylized performance, such as a Disney or Shakespearean show. My character in particular says a lot of the same variants of phrases over and over so I have a really hard time remembering what exactly I say when my lines are so similar. I also suck at ad libbing/improv so I have to get my lines memorized down to the exact wording. Props to the actors who acted in A Doll’s House and Three Sisters for learning all of those lines of the same style.
