The Room: Epilogue
We did it! The performance was on Friday, February 16th at the 43rd Annual UNE Variety Show and the audience had probably around fifty people in it. We all showed up around 7pm and the show started at 8pm. We were supposed to be fourth in the program, before intermission, but we were informed that another act had dropped out of the show and so we got bumped to somewhere around third to last. Besides having a mini panic attack on stage and having one of my lines get cut off, we actually made it through the performance without any real issues! The day or so before we had figured out an “escape plan” for one section of lines that we were struggling with, but luckily we didn’t have to use it because everyone had their lines down. Nikolai was really proud and so were we. Overall this experience has taught me that some plays take longer to memorize than others – lines that are similar to everyday speech are waaaaay more challenging to remember.
